One Year of Marriage: Serving One Another

Throughout our first year of marriage we have had many opportunities to serve one another. I am totally blessed to have a wife who wants and does serve me.

Tati and I enjoy cooking. Tati makes some very wonderful meals and I try to make food for her also.

What a mess in the kitchen!

Our apartment has never been cleaner. I am so thankful for a wife who loves to serve. I also enjoy serving Tati. I have had many opportunities to serve her especially during the pregnancy.

If we can continue to serve one another and prefer one another then we have no doubt that our marriage will be an example of Christ and the Church to everyone.

One Year of Marriage: Dating My Wife

It is important to spend time with your wife. Before Tati I did not take a day off and now with Tati I find myself looking forward to our days off. It is important to date your wife even after you are married.

We try and take time to go out and eat. It is important for us to not only go out but to have time to talk and make special memories.

Dating at Home

Dating is not only going out but it could be staying in. Tati and I have enjoyed our time at our house. Normally this involves one of us cooking something special for the other. We enjoy talking or watching a movie together when at home.

Dating While Working

At times ministry is very busy and can easily take over your life. It is important during these times to stop and do something special with just the two of us.

One Year of Marriage: Learning About Each Other

One of the things that has been very important for us is to learn about one another over the past year.

Learning about My Family

We have learned about my family and Tati’s family. We are also learning how our new family is different than our old families but has been influenced greatly by our families.

Learning about My Culture

Learning about Tati’s Family

We have learned how we interact with our missions team. We have also learned how we are to move forward as missionaries together.

Learning about the Missions Team

Learning to Minister Together

We are learning how we will serve together in church and how we compliment one another as we serve others. We lave learned about the skills, abilities, weakness and dislikes.

Serving Others Together

We also have learned about some of the differences in our cultures. We have grown to understand each other and our cultural differences.

Learning about Tati’s Culture

It is not to say that we are done learning or have arrived but that we are continuing to learn about one another. In the process of learning we have grown in our ability to communicate with one another.

One Year of Marriage: Remembering Our Wedding

I look back on our wedding and remember all the great memories. The memories are not only from the day of the wedding but also from the preparation.

Friends helping build a pergola

The wedding was not just an event that happened but it required lots of work and planning. I am so thankful for all the help we received because we could not have gotten married without it. We were originally supposed to be married at our friends property but due to the weather we had to move our wedding location the week before.

Our civil Wedding

In Brazil you have two weddings. The first is the official government or civil wedding. The second is a religious ceremony. The civil ceremony required lots of documentation and work but we got it done.

Our religious ceremony happened at the church. It was a wonderful ceremony and time with our family and friends. We think back on our wedding with great memories. Tati and I would not change anything.
